While there are positive signs and businesses continue to adapt, collaborate, and attract customers, there are still concerns pertaining to our long-term stability. As small businesses remain essential to our neighborhood's economic vitality, cultural identity, and quality of life, our future will require meaningful support from policymakers, landlords, residents, and community organizations such as ourselves. That's why we continue to feel strongly about our Love Local initiative. Continuing to direct local spending toward neighborhood establishments is essential, however those local businesses must remain in a position to be able to serve the public. That's where we come in. On a bright and sunny Thursday, June 13 , North Brooklyn Chamber celebrated the grand opening of Dental Avenue Greenpoint with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as friends and family gathered to show their support for the new venture of Dr. Jason Bastida.

Dr. Jason Bastida, DDS, is the founder of Dental Avenue Greenpoint and a second-generation dentist from Great Neck, New York. He also practices with his father in Jackson Heights, where he has worked for the past six years.

A year ago, while walking around the neighborhood, Dr. Jason saw a yoga studio having a garage sale and discovered they were moving out. Two months later, he signed a lease to turn the space into a dental office. Now, Dental Avenue Greenpoint has been open for two months, demonstrating how much can change in a year.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Jason, a Greenpoint resident, enjoys running along the North Brooklyn waterfront, lamenting his existence as a Mets fan, and spending time with his friends and his wife, Kelsey, in the best neighborhood in the city.
